It is generally known that the LGBTQ+ community face addiction at higher rates than the general population. This workshop will provide participants with a richer understanding of LGBTQ+ individuals (including basic knowledge of identities and terms) with the goal to build LGBTQ+ cultural competency. The workshop provides empirical research to understand healthcare barriers, mental health, addiction, and gambling behavior/risk. The workshop includes practical advice for working with LGBT+ clients with activities as well as plenty of time for questions & answers. Participants will learn how to use LGBTQ+ cultural competency tools to best work with LGBTQ clients and their families.
